In 1929, a man named Donald Deskey put everything he had — money, passion and talent — into a pitch to design the interior of Radio City Music Hall. He was young and hungry, and he wanted this project because he knew it was destined to be an American landmark. When he stood before the Rockefeller family to make his presentation, he didn’t rely on mere words to convey his enthusiasm. Instead, he produced models to bring his vision to life. He laid out an inspired picture of what the hall could be. He got the project, and our firm took wing.
This story captures the spirit of our company TODAY.
Donald Deskey was one of a handful of designers present at the birth of the branding industry. He designed the original identities for Tide, Pampers, Duncan Hines and Joy. In his shadow, his teams designed such new brands as Downy and Luvs Diapers. Today we carry his reputation forward by embracing his fearlessness, his eclectic skill set and his obsession for getting it right, down to the smallest detail.
He was an innovator. He was our teacher. His spirit is our soul.
