Cradle Cincinnati: Celebrating Success and Setting the Course for the Future
In the summer of 2013, Deskey became part of a collaborative effort that we would soon brand as Cradle Cincinnati, Hamilton County’s undertaking to reduce one of the highest infant mortality rates in the nation. Over the course of the last five years, we helped the organization connect with the community differently than previous campaigns that missed the mark. After developing and implementing numerous initiatives, we’re now celebrating a 15 percent drop in infant deaths, which is double the national pace of change and makes ours the fastest improving county in Ohio. In the 10 years prior to Cradle, an estimated $10 million had been spent on reducing infant mortality without moving the needle. This speaks to the power of the Cradle brand we created and the organization’s ability to leverage it and launch a movement. However, there’s still much to be done. So in July 2018, Cradle Cincinnati introduced its five-year strategic plan with a signing ceremony at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. Throughout its first five years, Cradle rallied political, social and healthcare partners like no prior effort had, and all of them are standing strong together going forward. Deskey is proud to team with such great people. We have donated $800,000 of work over the last five years to Cradle’s success, and we are firmly committed to ensuring that the next five years bring further progress toward securing the health and safety of every baby, every day.
